Local dance artists drew inspiration from our cotton mills! Imago Dance Development Day was an opportunity for dancers to work with Debbie Milner to create new dance pieces in response to prompts.
The morning session was hosted by Debbie Milner, who encouraged artists to explore creative ways of working suitable for funded projects in libraries, museums and schools. The afternoon session was centred around advice and information - asking questions such as what it is like to be a dance artist creating a professional practice? How to take quality ideas and turn them into paid work? Collaborative working and the opportunity to network? Sarah Hall delivered an short session around her experience with Arts Council Funding, and performer Louise Fazackerley talked about how to approach other local and national funders.
It was also an opportunity for dancers to network, to enhance their own practice, and to help reinvigorate the dance community in Wigan!
